About Us

Orgin story

The concept of Rabbit Boxes was born out of personal need. Many of us have likely faced the challenge of visiting multiple supermarkets just to gather a diverse selection of food for our rabbits, given the often limited options available!

The idea originated in Germany with Kaninchenkiste GmbH & Co. KG, a company that began 4 years ago by packing orders in a humble garage. Over time, it has expanded significantly and now delivers fresh, top-quality produce to thousands of homes- no longer from a garage!

At Rabbit Boxes HQ, we partner closely with Kaninchenkiste, benefiting from their extensive experience and expertise to bring you your furry friend's favorite fresh foods!

Why feed fresh?

Is your bunny refusing to eat enough hay, or are you concerned it’s not getting the proper nutrition? We have great news! Your bunny doesn’t need to rely on hay as its main food to stay healthy and happy—fresh food is the key!

In many German-speaking countries, bunny-savvy veterinarians have been recommending fresh food as the primary diet for rabbits for over a decade. Now, we’re bringing this revolutionary approach to bunny care to the UK with a convenient delivery service straight to your door!

What are the benefits to feeding fresh?
  • Supports Healthy Digestion: Fresh food is tasty and low in calories, encouraging your bunny to eat more frequently throughout the day and night. Its high water content (up to 95%) aids digestion, even with weaker stomach muscles.
  • Promotes Healthy Teeth: Rabbit teeth grow continuously. Fresh leaves encourage the natural horizontal jaw movement (unlike pellets, which cause vertical chewing and can lead to dental diseases). The molars wear down against each other during natural horizontal chewing, not - as is often mistakenly assumed – against the hard food. With up to 95% water content, fresh food is low in calories, unlike high-calorie hay and pellets that fill bunnies up quickly, reducing their intake. This increased volume (95% water) encourages bunnies to eat and chew more, effectively wearing down their teeth.
  •  Boosts Immunity: Fresh food is packed with vitamins and secondary plant compounds that strengthen your bunny’s immune system. Unlike hay, which loses most of its nutrients during the drying process, fresh food retains its full nutritional value.
  • Prevents Bladder Stones: Too much hay can lead to calcium deposits in your bunny’s organs. Fresh food, rich in water, helps your bunny naturally eliminate excess calcium and prevent kidney and bladder stones.
Bunny-savvy veterinarians in German-speaking countries confirm that this balanced diet supports better overall health and prevents common health issues.
